Downtown/Main Street Revitalization and Utility Improvement Project

This is a full depth reconstruction project of Main Street, Cortland to revitalize the downtown area and improve failing infrastructure. This will be accomplished by replacing the existing 2-lane, 1-way street with a 2-lane, 2-way roadway and replacing the underground utilities. Traffic signal upgrades will be made to accommodate the new traffic pattern. Pedestrian facilities will be upgraded to meet current ADA standards at all intersections and at the mid-block crossing. The drainage system on Main St, Court St, and Central Ave will be upgraded with a larger capacity for stormwater to reduce the damaging effects of water on pavement. The water supply system will be completely reconstructed to replace the outdated system and to provide better water service to the area. The sanitary sewer will be slip lined. Streetscape architecture will be installed throughout to beautify the area, and the existing "pocket park" will be receive updates including new bicycle racks, benches, and plant beds.
