remove the existing coating from the exterior of the gate bonnet, cylinder assembly and flange by abrasive blasting. The bonnet to be repainted is coated with coal tar epoxy and a lead-based primer. The Contractor shall remove the existing coatings by use of a blast agent that is approved for use with lead paint and which has an approved “lead abatement additive”. All residues and waste products resulting from the removal of existing coatings shall be contained and removed from the dome chamber and tunnel area and shall be disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal environmental regulations, guidelines and laws. The final surface condition required is SP10, near white.
