Description | Work under this contract consists of furnishing personnel, equipment, and materials for the construction of a sanitary sewer force main along Wendover Avenue and Penny Road. This project will include the installation of approximately 5,200 lf of 16-inch forcemain, 5 ea polymer concrete manholes, 1 ea precast concrete manhole, 350 lf of boring and jacking with 30" steel encasement pipe, and approximately 254 lf of gravity sanitary sewer ranging in size from 8-inch to 24-inch. Approximately 1,065 lf of the 16-inch forcemain will be installed by horizontal directional drilling. An existing sanitary sewer forcemain will remain in service during the construction of this project. General contractors are notified that "An Act to regulate the Practice of General Contractors", Section 87-1 through 15, ratified by the General Assembly of North Carolina, on March 10, 1925, and as subsequently amended will be observed in receiving and awarding general contracts. No proposal shall be considered or accepted by the City Council unless at the time of its filing the same shall be accompanied by a deposit with the City of High Point of a certified check on a bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid. In lieu of making the deposit as above provided, such bidder may file a bid bond executed by a corporate surety licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute such bonds; conditioned that the surety will upon demand forthwith make payment to the City of High Point upon said bond if the bidder fails to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. This deposit shall be retained if the successful bidder fails to execute the contract within ten (10) days after award or fails to give satisfactory surety as required herein. A separate performance and payment bond each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price will be required after bid award. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids, as may in the judgment of the City, serve its best interest and the City further reserves the right to waive irregularities and informalities in any bid submitted. A. Scope: 1. Provide all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to perform clearing and grubbing as shown and specified in the Contract Documents. 2. The Work includes cutting, removing, and disposal from the Site trees, stumps, brush, roots, shrubs, vegetation, logs, rubbish, and other objectionable material. 3. Pay all costs associated with transporting and disposing of debris resulting from clearing. 4. Limits of Clearing and Grubbing Work: Clear and grub all areas within the Work areas unless otherwise shown or indicated in the Contract Documents. |
