Description | The Contractor shall provide all management, transportation, tools, supplies, equipment, and labor and other items necessary to remove asbestos and lead based paint from the interior wall, ceiling and floor surfaces of facility interior, Building 472 (Lawson Hall) on Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE), Langley AFB (Air Force Base), Virginia (VA). 2.1. Asbestos. Abate and dispose of 500 LF of asbestos containing pipe insulation pipe from the Basement. Remove and dispose of 10,063 Square-Feet (SF) of asbestos plaster ceiling, 17,005 SF of asbestos plaster wall and 830 SF of asbestos floor leveling filler. 2.2. Lead Base Paint. Removal and disposal of 5460 SF of Lead Based Paint (LBP) from the Basement walls and 2760 SF of LBP from the Basement ceiling. 2.3 Working Conditions. 2.3.1. Facility 472 will not be occupied for the duration of the project. The Contractor shall take all precautions to ensure that their operations are conducted in a manner that does not interfere with the normal operations of the surrounding facilities and the safety and health of the occupants or the environment. 2.3.2. The Contractor shall insure that all construction performed within the facility is in accordance with established fire codes and ordinances. Contractor shall not block existing doorways, fire corridors, fire exits or exit ways to a fire exit. 2.3.3. The fire alarm system will remain active during the abatement. The contractor shall take whatever means necessary to protect the fire alarm system. |
