Description | A. The work includes the removal and disposal of asbestos containing materials (ACM) as indicated in Part 3 of this Section. B. The General Contractor shall retain the services of a Massachusetts licensed asbestos abatement contractor. The asbestos contractor must include in his scope of work all required services included in Part 3. The Contractor shall perform all Work required by the Contract Documents for Fire Alarm Upgrade prepared by the GGD Consulting Engineers, Inc. acting as and referred to in the Contract Documents as the Prime Designer. The Norwood Housing Authority, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from Contractors for the 667-1 & 667-2 Fire Alarm Upgrade, #220073 in Norwood, Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by GGD Consulting Engineers, Inc. The Project consists of: an addressable fire alarm system upgrade including CO detection. The work is estimated to cost $649,565. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.l49 26 to 27H inclusive General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in the following category of work, Electrical, and must submit a current DCAMM Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAMM Prime/ General Contractor Update Statement General bids and sub-bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (considering all alternates), and made payable to the Norwood Housing Authority This deposit will be refunded for up to two sets for general bidders and for one set for sub-bidders upon return of the sets in good condition within thirty (30) days of receipt of general bids. Otherwise the deposit shall be the property of the Awarding Authority. Additional sets may be purchased for $50.00. Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $40.00 per set for UPS Ground (or $65.00 per set for UPS overnight), nonrefundable to cover mail handling costs. General bidders must agree to contract with minority and women business enterprises as certified by the Supplier Diversity Office (SDO), formerly known as SOMWBA. The combined participation benchmark reserved for such enterprises shall not be less than 10.4% of the final contract price including accepted alternates. Request for waivers must be sent to DHCD (David.McClave@mass.gov) 5 calendar days prior to the General Bid date if the work is estimated to cost less than $500,000 OR 10 calendar days prior to the General Bid date if the work is estimated to cost $500,000 or more - No Waivers Willbe Granted After the Bid Date.
