Description

The biological laboratories of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Concepts and Experimentation Branch have a requirement for biohazard waste removal. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requires all potentially infectious biological material to be decontaminated inside or outside the laboratory and placed in durable, leak proof containers and secured for transport. The material to be removed from the facility for decontamination must be packed in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Since the waste from the biological laboratories is considered potentially infectious biohazard waste, it must be managed through a waste disposal contract for disposal.
