Description

The project is generally described as follows: The improvements generally include increasing the average daily treatment capacity from 3.6 million gallons per day (MGD) to 7.2 MGD (including peak flows of 18 MGD), expanding the influent pump station, new primary clarifier, additional screening and grit removal, new mixing and splitter box, additional process trains, new final clarifier splitter box, additional final clarifiers, expanded return sludge pumping station, additional chemical storage, additional filtration, additional ultraviolet disinfection, Class B solids improvements with new aerobic digesters, additional dewatering within the existing dewatering building, new maintenance facility, and new backup power generation. Pre-Qualification - Yes The completed Work will provide Owner with various wastewater treatment plant improvements. More specifically, the Project includes, but is not limited to, construction of the following: 1. The expansion from 3.6 MGD to 7.2 MGD will require expansions of almost every facility at the NACA WWTP. The 7.2 MGD expansion improvements include: a. Influent Pump Station: 1). Construct a new splitter box structure upstream of the influent pump station. 2). Construct a new add-on wet well to include two additional identical pumps. 3). Install one additional pump in the existing empty bay. b. Screening Facility: 1). Install a new identical mechanical continuous belt screen in the existing manual bar screen channel. 2). Relocate manual bar screen to a fourth channel constructed outside the building. 3). Install a new magnetic flow meter for influent flow measurement in the yard. c. Grit Removal System: 1). Construct two additional 6.8 MGD vortex grit chambers 2). Replace the existing grit classifier with a new four-cyclone grit classifier capable of receiving and classifying grit slurry from 4 grit pumps. The new grit classifier will receive grit flow from four (2 existing + 2 new) grit chambers. d. Primary Treatment: 1). Construct one 96-ft circular primary clarifier. e. Process Train: 1). Construct a new splitter box to distribute flow evenly between four process trains (two existing + two new). 2). Construct two additional process trains with turbine aerators to mirror the existing process trains. f. Alum Storage and Feed: 1). Demolish existing 6,000-gal storage tanks. 2). Construct two new heat-traced outdoor storage tanks. 3). Install new metering feed skids. g. Secondary Clarifiers: 1). Construct a new splitter box to distribute flow evenly between four secondary clarifiers (two existing + two new clarifiers). 2). Construct two new 80-ft diameter circular secondary clarifiers. h. RAS/WAS Pump Station: 1). Add a fourth influent bay to the existing wet well. 2). Add a third 5.4 MGD return activated sludge (RAS) pump. i. Filtration Expansion: 1). Construct a new filtration structure including a. Coagulation/flocculation basins b. Cloth media disk filters 2). Install three new cloth media disk filter systems together with backwash pumps and piping.
