Description

The services outlined in this contract will involve all aspects of repair, rehab, and parts necessary to rebuild the pump and motor. All bid prices are to be not to exceed prices for complete rehabilitation of both the pump and the motor. The Project Includes Pump Removal: 1. City personnel will valve out pump and disconnect power at the main VFD control panel. 2. Bidder will be responsible for disconnecting all power and control wiring for the motor and pump. Bidder will be responsible for disconnecting all flanges and connections including water lines for mechanical seal. 3. Bidder will be responsible for providing all equipment, labor, and supervision necessary to pull existing pump and motor. Rehabilitation: 1. Pump is to be completely disassembled and inspected for damage. 2. All damaged parts are to be replaced with Peerless factory parts. All gaskets and seals need to be replaced including gaskets for the pump’s connection to the existing piping. 3. The pump’s mechanical seal is to be replaced as part of rebuild. 4. The motor should be disassembled and inspected for damage. 5. All damaged parts are to be replaced. Motor is to be rewound and re-built. All bearings are to be replaced. New bearings shall be insulated for protection from VFD currents. Motors are to be baked and painted as a part of the repair. 6. The pump and motor shall be painted with a shop prime coating. 7. Prior to re-installation of pump and motor; pump base is to be properly prepped and epoxy coated to match returning pump and motor including removal of all rust and corrosion. 8. Bearings and seals shall be reconstructed with EPDM rubber materials that are better suited for chlorine residuals. Re-installation: 1. Bidder shall provide all equipment, labor, and supervision needed to re-install pump and motor. 2. Pump is to be re-installed to match current connections at time of removal. Any gaskets between the pumps and piping must be replaced with gaskets provided by the successful bidder. 3. Bidder is required to reconnect all wiring for motor and pump. 4. Bidder will also be responsible for re-connecting water supply to provide water to the new mechanical seal. 5. Bidder will be responsible for initial start-up and adjustments of new pump and verifying proper operation of pump, motor, and new mechanical seal. A start-up report will be provided by the bidder to include a base line vibration analysis of new installation at minimum and maximum set points on the VFD. 6. Bidder will supply new coupling system and any piping necessary to re-connect pump to the effluent piping system. New piping pressure rating and applications shall be equal to or greater than existing piping. New coupling and any added piping will be painted to match existing paint (Current coupling leaks). Bidder will be responsible for disconnecting and replacing all piping necessary to replace the leaking pipe connections. Pipe fittings that are to be replaced, shall be replaced with 316 series stainless steel fasteners, washers, nuts, and tie rods. Piping is to be securely fastened and anchored to prevent piping from pulling apart and/or leaking during pump operation.
