Description National Cemetery of the Alleghenies - Phase 3 Gravesite Development: purpose of this project is to enable an existing national cemetery to continue to provide burial services for eligible veterans in southwestern Pennsylvania. Located in Washington County, just south of Pittsburgh, the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies serves Veterans of the greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area, northwestern West Virginia, and southeastern Ohio. In accordance with the master plan for the entire 292-acre site, this project will develop approximately 40 acres of the 202 undeveloped acres remaining at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. This project will comprise the third construction phase of cemetery development, and will primarily include the construction of additional burial facilities intended to provide 10 years of service on existing, undeveloped land. The remainder of the site will be developed in future 10-year phased projects. Since this is an existing cemetery, only those facilities and infrastructure elements necessary to support the added maintenance, operations, and burial capacity for approximately 10 years will comprise this phase of construction.
