Description

Cornell University is seeking proposals from consultants to provide design services to properly mitigate roof leaks within the identified greenhouse structures and repair and/or replace damaged roof framing, glass, and ventilation systems. The project includes the repair or replacement of the greenhouse roof systems, subsequent structure, and ventilation systems in two separate facilities. - Building 1045P – Wood and metal framed greenhouse and passageway with a glass roof. Ventilation is currently achieved with operable windows and doors. - Building 1045B – Metal framed greenhouse and passageway with glass roof and hand operable roof vents. The project includes the repair or replacement of the greenhouse roof ventilation system in one facility. - Building 1060D Yellow Greenhouse (Rooms 163 & 165) – Metal framed structure with glass roof and operable motorized roof vents. The services indicated below shall include, but not be limited to: • Building 1045P – Wood and metal framed greenhouse and passageway with a glass roof. Ventilation is currently achieved with operable windows and doors. o Roof System: Provide options for replacement of just wood framed roofing system, maintaining the existing metal framed roofing system, wall, and windows system. Options to include replacement in-kind vs. new system. Glass roof to be replaced entirely. Options to include glass and plexi/acrylic alternate. o Ventilation: Provide options for new ventilation system within space. o Hazardous Materials: Glazing is potential asbestos containing. • Building 1045B – Metal framed greenhouse and passageway with glass roof and hand operable roof vents. o Roofing System: Mitigate current leak within existing structure and glass roof. Explore options of replacing the glass only and salvaging the existing structure. o Ventilation System: Ensure hand operated ventilation system is operable and in working order. Explore options for motorized ventilation. o Hazardous Materials: Glazing is potential asbestos containing. • Building 1060D Yellow Greenhouse (Rooms 163 & 165) – Metal framed structure with glass roof and operable motorized roof vents. o Roofing System: Investigate roof vent structure. Existing ventilation operating system loads roof framing dynamically causing glass breakage. o Ventilation System: Evaluate ventilation system; vent framing, gears, controls and motors for component replacement or full replacement of ventilation system. Existing ventilation system is on Argus systems to control environmental conditions. Argus is widely used across campus. o Hazardous Materials: Glazing is potential asbestos containing.
