Description

Sources are sought for the remediation of two metal water tanks. There are 2 water storage tanks at the NNSS that require remediation to correct issues identified in the last inspections. The Area 6 water storage tank (WST) supplies fire service water to the RNCTEC facility. The tank has been out of service for several years and refurbishment is required for the tank to be brought back into service. An inspection was last performed by Liquid Engineering Corporation (LEC) in 2014. The WST is 45 feet in diameter, 18.5 feet in height, and has a capacity of 218,364 gallons. The Area 27 WST supplies potable and fire service water to the JASPER/BAKER facilities. An inspection completed by Liquid Engineering Corporation (LEC) in September of 2020 showed coating failure near the outlet of the tank as well as other areas that are beginning to show signs of delamination and will require remediation to ensure the WST will continue to remain functional and provide adequate fire service water to its facilities. The WST is 30 feet in diameter, 16 feet in height, ¼” thick ASTM A36 steel with a capacity of 84,400 gallons.
