Plowden Pond Boardwalk & Bridge Replacement

The City of Sumter is seeking bids from qualified firms for the piles up demolition and replacement of the Plowden Pond boardwalk and bridge, utilizing HDPE composite materials per structural plans. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any technicalities in the best interest of the City. The existing Plowden Pond boardwalk and bridge are deteriorating and continue to be maintenance and safety concerns for the City of Sumter. To mitigate these concerns the boardwalk and bridge are proposed to be replaced with composite decking materials to increase the life span of these structures and reduce the ongoing maintenance. The only existing structural items to remain during the demolition phase are the pilings and approaches on each end of the boardwalk and bridge. The boardwalk and bridge are to be replaced in kind from the piles up utilizing HDPE composite materials per the attached structural plans.
