Description | Deerhaven Unit 2 burns coal as fuel for its boiler to produce steam. Coal is purchased from mines in Kentucky and West Virginia and transported to site via rail car. The Coal Conveyor 5-6 transfer chute is part of the Coal loading System and is a transitional belt system taking coal from belt 5 and discharging onto conveyor 6, then in the plant bunkers. Recent inspections and preventative maintenance (PMs) have revealed extensive wear in the transfer system. PROJECT DESCRIPTION - The scope of this project is to completely replace or modify transfer points and chutes to minimize the spillage, dusting, plugging and wear. - Goal is to reduce fugitive dusting below the OSHA limit of 2.0 mg/m3. a. This includes design and fabrication of complete flow modeled transfer chutes and skirt systems, including supply and fabrication of liners, doors, and other items as specified in this document. Where this line item applies, we expect to meet the OSHA dust limit. b. This includes design and fabrication of load zone containment systems such as loading spoons, skirting systems, and/or impact/slider beds. - Contractor is expected to provide input and recommendations regarding their findings during their 3D scanning and evaluation phase. | ||||
