Union Road Bridge at San Benito River (Bridge No. 43C0067) Bridge Replacement Project

This project consists of replacing the existing bridge structure on Union Road spanning the San Benito River including approach roadway improvements. The new bridge will be constructed along a new alignment to the south from the existing location and the intersection of San Benito Street and Union Road would be relocated with an approximate 350-foot extension of San Benito Street to the realigned portion of Union Road. The intersection at Cienega Road and Union Road would be reconstructed with a slight adjustment to orient the intersection with the realigned Union Road. The existing structure will remain to carry the existing traffic during the construction of the new structure and then removed once the new structure is built and traffic diverted onto it. Existing and previous bridge structures would be removed from the river channel following completion of the new bridge, and riparian vegetation would be restored. As of June 1, 2023 a general contractor has been awarded. Construction is anticipated to start in June or July 2023. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
