Description | Traffic signal maintenance includes the preventative and responsive activities to preserve traffic signal infrastructure and control devices necessary for the safe and efficient utilization of arterial, collector and local roadways. ? Inspect and tighten all obvious wiring defects within the traffic control cabinet and power line connections to the control cabinet. ? Repair or replace any defective exhaust fan or heater within the control cabinet where applicable. Lubricate cabinet door hinges, locks (repair or replace if necessary), and weatherproof seal. Vacuum/blow out cabinet. Replace filters. ? Inspect cabinet anchor bolts for tightness. ? Repair or replace cabinet lamps, check voltage and amps. ? Verify the presence of correct schematics and timing sheets (if not present, prepare and place in drawer). ? Tighten backup controller battery terminals (if applicable) and inspect controller boards for tightness. ? Test all directions of pre-emptor for correct detection at appropriate distance and correct controller phasing operation. Clean all optical detectors. ? Evaluate and repair if required detector loops, pedestrian heads, signal heads, lenses, lamps and signal poles, etc. ? Repair or replace any defective pedestrian push buttons. ? Replace components such as poles, signal heads, broken lenses, broken or burnt out bulbs etc., due to complete normal wear or devastation caused by an auto accident, snow removal vehicle or any act of nature. Inspect signal head alignment. Check span wire assemblies, adjust for proper clearances. ? Repair or Replace the conflict, test-flashing operation, record monitor error codes in logbook. ? Repair or replace any defective “Plug-Ins” such as detector amps, load switches, isolators and power supply. Inspect all modules for tightness. ? After making any repairs Observe for correct actuation in each lane, including appropriate delay timing. Label cabinet plug-ins and phasing on doors. |
