Route 2/17 Widening - Spotsylvania County

Widen Rt. 2/Rt. 17 to 4 lanes from the Fredericksburg city line to the south side of Shannon Airport. Eliminate a major traffic chokepoint and safety problem and provide the transportation infrastructure necessary to support economic development opportunities at the Spotsylvania Industrial Park, Shannon Airport area, and along the Rt. 2/Rt. 17 corridor. This project is in included in the Spotsylvania County FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of July 16, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
