Bridge over Toms Creek Repair Project

The existing bridge deck consists of 2½ inch wooden planks varying in width between 6 and 9 inches. The timber appears to be rough sawn, oak. The existing planks are well worn with some signs of serious deterioration. Some existing planks have been replaced with pressure treated planks. The existing deck is cantilevered over the outermost beams on either side by approximately 2’-6”. Two (2) wooden 6-inch by 6-inch rub rails exist along both outer edges of the existing bridge deck. The existing steel superstructure is rusted with significant delamination on the webs and flanges of all members.
