Description | As of March 23, 2023, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the final planning phase and construction documents are complete. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, it is anticipate bidding will commence in May/June 2023, with construction starting in August 2023 and ending in November 2023. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The project will remove all existing shingles and replace with new, address any buckling and rotting or week plywood sheathing. Any additional roof ventilation will be addressed to eliminate any future buckling and rotting of plywood sheathing. Request the services of a professional Architectural and Engineering (A/E) design firm to provide construction bid documents and construction administration services for the design roof replacement. DTSD Southwest Regional Headquarters was built in 1984 and had an addition constructed in 1994. The roof shingles were replaced in 2008 with an additional project in 2018 that replaced partial areas of shingles and buckled plywood sheathing due to the heat from the attic and not being vented properly. Due to the age of the roof shingles and the poor installation of them, many areas of the roof have soft spots where the plywood sheathing is rotting. Areas of sheathing are buckling from moisture and leaks in the shingles. There have been numerous leaks throughout the entire building over the years and leaks continue to be a problem with old ones being fixed and returning and new ones appearing when it rains. We continue to put band aids on the shingles, and they are only lasting so long at a cost of around $4-500 each visit. Due to the numerous leaks in the building from the roof, ceiling tiles need to be replaced every time along with drywall being repaired and causing damage to the inside of the building Start Construction Sep 2023 Substantial Completion Nov 2023 Final Completion Dec 2023 The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time |
