Description | All lockers shall be electrostatically finished on all exterior surfaces, including the door edges. Sufficient area around the lockers will be masked off prior to painting to protect the floors and surrounding surfaces (walls, doors, ceiling, windows, etc.) from overspray. Surfaces that receive an electrostatic finish shall be sanded using a suitable abrasive to help adhere the paint and produce a factory like finish. All exterior surface mount handles, locks, locker numbers, knobs or any surface not to be finished will be masked utilizing masking tape, ensuring that no paint will be applied to those surfaces. All metal surfaces to be painted shall be wiped clean with tack cloth to remove any remaining dust prior to applying the paint finish. Use high performance two-component epoxy paint or a single component low VOC enamel (Sumter Coatings or Sherwin Williams Industrial Enamel) specifically formulated for electrostatic painting. Finish will be semi-gloss. Use all material as recommended by paint manufacturer. Colors will be determined by Hampton City Schools (HCS). Paint applied shall be smooth, not textured with a 2-mil thickness. Clean up shall be thorough including any overspray. |
