Description | Question Deadline 08/04/2023 at 5:00 PM CT Bidders requiring clarification or interpretation of the Bidding Documents shall make such requests, in writing only, to:Lee.Barrier@sedgwick.gov This project will remove lead less than 1/4 " from existing berms to a depth of 2 feet, screen and stabilize the soil with lime, and return the soil to the berm where it will be graded to match existing conditions. There is a pile of lead filled dirt from a previous cleaning that will be screened, stabilized and re-used as well. The screened lead will remain Sedgwick County property to allow for sale or recycling. Removed lead will be packaged for shipping. The Wichita / Sedgwick County Firearms Training Facility at 24532 West 39th St S, Goddard, KS 67052 has a large berm which surrounds the facility for the safety of the general public. The berm on the west side of the range is used as a backstop to prevent firearm munitions from leaving the facility and safely absorb the rounds fired at targets. Over time, thousands of lead rounds over-saturate the berm, both creating a lead hazard and also a "splash back" hazard. Additionally the berm structure degrades over time. Several years ago, an effort was made to remove and rebuild the berm. The lead filled dirt from the previous berm was moved to the west side of the range and piled, and a new berm was constructed. The lead was not removed from the previous berm dirt The current west berm needs to be rebuilt and have the lead removed due to its lead levels. The dirt from the previous berm also needs to have the lead removed due to environmental hazards. at Pre-Bid Meeting will be the only time to meet directly with County staff to answer questions concerning this project |
