Description

The City of Carson, California is seeking informal bids for the demolition and installation of flooring within specified areas of the 1st floor of Carson City Hall, located at: 701 E. Carson St., Carson, CA 90745. Contractor is to furnish all labor, materials, tools, and equipment necessary to remove existing carpeting and install new carpeting for the applicable areas of the 1st floor, totaling 24,000 ft2. This is a turn-key project which must be completed within 60 days of contract execution and receipt of notice to proceed. Project Description: Demo existing flooring and base. Scrape old adhesive and prep subfloor for smooth finish. Install new Carpet tile throughout with new base. Cubicles will be removed prior. Move office furniture such as desks & cabinets. Furnish all labor, materials, tools, and equipment necessary to remove existing carpeting and install new carpeting for the Carson City Hall, 1st floor offices and select areas (attached) totaling 24,000 ft2. Scope of Work: 1. Move furniture as needed to complete the project. 2. Remove and dispose of existing carpet and cove base. Approximately 24,000 ft2. 3. Perform moisture testing as needed. 4. Prepare substrate for application of new carpet. 5. Install carpeting 6. This is a turn-key project which must be completed within 60 days of contract execution and receipt of notice to proceed. Inspection of Surfaces: 1. Examine substrate for flaws which would impact execution and quality of carpeting as specified. 2. Do not proceed with installation of carpeting until defects have been corrected. Preparation: 1. Remove dirt, oil, grease, or other foreign matter from surfaces to receive floor covering materials. 2. Prime surfaces if recommended by floor covering manufacturer. The City has identified its preferred materials to be utilized for this project, contractors should base their bids off of the City's preferred materials as indicated below. The Line Item bid sheet will outline the materials versus supplies, as well as the option for a Lump Sum for both. Prospective bidders may also submit bids based on an alternative product, those products should meet or exceed the specified warranties and purposes of those products requested below. Materials: o Tarkett C-12E Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Flex-Aire (604734021) o Tarkett Colorknit - Flex Aire(R) Cushion tiles (Rain Washed #30214) - est. 11,128 CF o Tarkett 4" Baseworks TS Thermoset (est. 3,000 LF) - 92 Blue Lagoon o Tarkett 960 Wall Base Adhesive (297038000) o All quantities are estimated and should be verified prior to bid submittal. Carpeting shall have a limited lifetimes warranty for wear, static, colorfastness, and stain resistance. 2. Any additional materials shall have minimum warranties equal to industry standards. Public Works Project: This project constitutes a "Public Works" contract as defined under the Labor Code of California - Department of Industrial Relations, Sub-Section 1720(a) & 1771. Project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the DIR. (LC 1771.4(a)(1)) Consequently, workers employed on this project must be paid the general rate of per diem wages for each craft, classification, and of type of worker needed to execute this project agreement. Contractor shall be responsible in obtaining up-to-date prevailing wage labor code schedule; and may be required to submit "Prevailing Wage Certified Payroll" at the completion of the project upon request by the Court. Prime contractor is required to post job site notices, as prescribed by regulation. (LC 1771.4(a)(2)). The City of Carson reserves the right to make changes to this Informal Bid as it may deem appropriate. Any and all changes shall be made by written addendum via electronically. No oral changes will be permitted. All bids must be submitted by the date and time established, no late proposals will be accepted. The City of Carson reserves the right to take any action considered to be in the best interest of the City of Carson. No contract exists on the part of the City until the City Council has made the award and a purchase contract has been fully executed. The City reserves the right to reject any and all submissions received or any parts therein, and to be the sole judge of the merits of each submission received. This Informal Bid does not commit the City of Carson to award a contract or to pay any cost incurred in the preparation of any response to this bid. All responses to this Informal Bid become the property of the City. At such time negotiations with the consultant to be awarded the contract are complete, all responses submitted become a matter of public record and shall be regarded as such, with the exception of those elements in responses which are defined by the contractor as business or trade secrets, and marked "Trade Secret," "Confidential," or "Proprietary," or if disclosure is required under the Public Record Act.
