Description

We are looking to have the capability to make announcements utilizing our Notifier Fire Alarm voice system to our 100-acre facility. Below are the stated objectives required for the system installation. The system must be activated by switch. The switch shall be mounted inside the panel, which is located within the VA Police Office (Building 100, Police Services, 1C158). The same switch shall be used to turn on/off the notifiers mounted at Buildings 10 and 100. Upon turning the switch on, the mass notification system must make an audible chime tone, three (3) separate times; these chimes will notify the end user that the microphone has become activated and that the voice announcement system has become active in order for announcements to be broadcast across the campus. The system shall be wall mounted at the highest point possible, at Buildings 10 and 100. Building 10: The contractor will access the attic of building 10. Locate the best angle to project adequate broadcast mount at the highest point possible to avoid penetrating the roof. The Contracting Officer s Representative (COR) will show the contractor where to install the wall mounted unit. Building 100: The contractor will access the rooftop of building 100 via access of stairway 5 which is located within the passenger elevator lobby. The contractor will ride the elevator to the 5th floor passenger elevator lobby gain access to the penthouse using COR. The wall mounted speaker tower shall be wall mounted at the highest point possible to avoid penetrating the roof that allows the best broadcast available. The Contracting Officer s Representative (COR) will show the contractor where to install the wall mounted unit. To allow for the circuits to become activated during daytime and nighttime operation, the mass communication needs to be controlled by utilizing switches located on the main panel in the VA Police Office dispatch, which is located within Building 100 at 1C158. The mass notification needs to be electronically monitored for faults that would inhibit the operation when needed. The Mass notification needs to be Underwriter Laboratories (UL) listed for outdoor use. The installer must be Notifier certified and trained to work on Notifier with at least 5 years experience. The installer must be National Institution for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certified to design and installation of all equipment. All roof mounting shall be done to avoid potential roof leaks and a roof letter is required by a licensed roofing contractor after completion to insure proper control of water removal. The voice announcement needs to be intelligible by fire alarm announcement standards and codes which are referenced in paragraph 4a. below.
