Sculpture on the Highway Scoping Study

Provide a scoping study for the State’s Sculpture on the Highway collection. In general, the scope of this project will consist of a planning process that identifies the site and relocation needs of the 16 sculptures associated with Sculpture on the Highway. Specifically, this scoping report will be used to rule out any unintended consequences of the project, provide initial cost estimates and conduce preliminary planning and design in advance of detailed design and capitol construction, including: Assessment and prioritization of sculpture relocation – 10 sculptures are currently inaccessible to the public due to closed rest areas, fencing, and/or overgrowth over the course of 50 years without maintenance. Long-term relocation options – provide options for permanent relocation within the existing right of way at open facilities along the Vermont Interstate System. Provide order of magnitude cost estimate and anticipated service life for each option.
