Professional Engineering Services for Beach Avenue (CR604) Resurfacing Improvements

The scope of services to be provided consists of the preparation of plans, specification, contract documents, securing regulatory permits, post design coordination including shop drawing approval and ensuring that a timely submission for FY 2022 FHWA Federal Authorization submission. The project spans from Broadway Avenue to Pittsburgh Avenue a distance of 1.67 miles. Beach Avenue is a two-lane roadway and cuts through the business district of Cape May. On street parking is provided along both sides of the roadway. The paved width of the road varies from 38’ to 59’. There are 6 signalized intersections along Beach Avenue. The road is bounded by a seawall to the east, and continuous curb and sidewalk to the west. The posted speed limit is 25mph and the average daily traffic is 4060 vehicles. The roadway is pitched east to west, there is no center crown on the existing roadway in order to handle periodic ocean over wash. Existing outfall pipes extend from Beach Avenue eastward across the beach and provide adequate drainage capacity from the roadway to the Atlantic Ocean.
