Description | Subtrades: Electrical Work Miscellaneous and Ornamental Iron The work consists of but is not limited to the demolition of existing HVAC, and electrical equipment and systems in the Headworks, and the installation of new HVAC equipment and systems (including unit heaters, exhaust fans, new boiler system, and associated controls), electrical systems (including wiring to support HVAC equipment, and gas detection systems), and structural work to support the HVAC improvements. The work also includes limited replacement of grating in the Headworks. All questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents shall be submitted in writing to the Engineer via the Tighe & Bond website Question Deadline 03/18/2023 The Work includes the following major items: a. Selective demolition. b. Architectural work 1) Restoration of finishes c. Structural work 1) Infill and penetrations of walls and floors. 2) Indoor equipment pads 3) Replacement of headworks channel grating system 4) Equipment supports and other miscellaneous items d. HVAC Work 1) Exhaust fans to serve the headworks (wet) portion of the building, which is a class 1, division 1 area. 2) Hot water boiler plant, pumps, and accessories 3) Hot water piping distribution system 4) Stainless steel and FRP ductwork 5) Heating terminal equipment 6) Automatic Temperature Controls e. Electrical Work 1) System upgrades to support the new HVAC equipment. 2) Hazardous gas detection systems f. Plumbing Work 1) utility sink 2) domestic water heater 3) gas piping EXISTING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION A. The existing building is a 7,000 square foot building in an operating waste treatment plant the building is split into two portions: The first portion is a single story, 2,500 square foot headworks. The headworks is a Class 1, Division 1 space. The remaining portion is a dual level (on grade and lower level) dry area, consisting of a control room on the upper level, and septage pumps, piping, and chemical storage areas on the lower level. B. The boiler system is a small, oil-fired cast-iron hot-water boiler that only serves unit heaters. There are three gas-fired makeup air units on the roof, all of which have failed and are not operable. C. The goal of this project is to restore proper ventilation to the headworks and provide adequate boiler capacity to provide ventilation to both the headworks and to the dry areas of the building. The ventilation equipment for the dry areas will be installed as part of a planned future project, and is not part of the Work of this project. |
