Description

This exhibit will allow visitors to ‘operate’ the MacArthur Lock at the Soo Locks for a downbound vessel passage, using a replica of the original 1943 lock panel. Upon activating a start lever on the panel, video footage of a vessel will begin in the left-most monitor simulating a view from the operating shelter mounted on “walls” around the panel. Written instructions will appear on a monitor above these in the center with an animation of the vessel locking through. In addition, a voice recording of the Lock Master will play providing verbal instructions to the operator. Visitors will turn levers/press buttons in sequence to bring up visual animations and sounds of what is happening in the lock and the next action to take, along with an animation of the locking process. The four lower screens will show time-lapse footage of a boat locking through synced to the operation of the panel. Completed labels, operator panel, software and hardware delivered, installed, onsite staff training and operation and maintenance manual including troubleshooting for exhibit issues within 180 days of contract award.
