Description | FDOT Districts 2, 5 and 7 Fiber Optic Connection to District 3 Fiber Optic Communication System. FDOT District 2 MCSAW Program: FDOT District 2 is in Northeastern Florida with State Road 8 (SR 8)/ Interstate 10 (I-10) stretching West to East through the District. Three Major State Roads stretching South to North are State Road 93 (SR 93)/ Interstate 75 (I- 75), State Road 9 (SR 9)/ Interstate 95 (I-95) and State Road 9A (SR 9A)/ Interstate 295 (I-295). The Motor Carrier Size and Weight (MCSAW) Program’s fiber optic communications system is crucial in connecting FDOT Weigh-In- Motion (WIM) Stations and Virtual Weigh-In-Motion (VWIM) Stations. In addition, twelve (12) Telemetered Traffic Monitoring Sites (TTMS) will be integrated within the MCSAW project to provide essential traffic information to the Transportation Data Analytics (TDA) Office. The District 2 MCSAW Program will utilize two (2) dark fibers for the local connection of VWIM Stations and TTMS. Four (4) dark fibers on SR 8 (I-10), SR 93 (I-75), and SR 9 (I-95) and three (3) dark fibers on SR 9A (I-295) will be utilized for the Long Haul communication between the Madison WIM Station on SR 8 (I-10), the White Springs WIM Station on SR 93 (I-75), and the Yulee WIM Station on SR 9 (I-95). Intermediate FDOT Microwave Towers will be utilized to regenerate the MCSAW communication network. District 2 MCSAW fibers will be connected to District 3 and District 5 MCSAW fibers to extend the fiber optic communications system throughout the FDOT Districts. FDOT District 5 MCSAW Program: FDOT District 5 is in the Central region of Florida with State Road 400 (SR 400)/ Interstate 4 (I-4) stretching West to East in the District. Three Major State Roads stretching South to North are State Road 93 (SR 93)/ Interstate 75 (I- 75), State Road 91 (SR 91)/ Florida’s Turnpike (FL TPK) and State Road 9 (SR 9)/ Interstate 95 (I-95). The Motor Carrier Size and Weight (MCSAW) Program’s fiber optic communications system is crucial in connecting FDOT Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) Stations and Virtual Weigh-In-Motion (VWIM) Stations. The District 5 MCSAW Program will utilize four (4) dark fibers for Long Haul communication between the Wildwood WIM on SR 93 (I-75), Flagler WIM on SR 9 (I-95), other FDOT Districts and Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise. No dark fibers will be utilized for the local connection of VWIM Stations in District 5. Intermediate FDOT Microwave Towers will be utilized to regenerate the MCSAW communication network. District 5 MCSAW fibers will be connected to District 1, District 2, District 4, District 7, and Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise MCSAW fibers to extend the fiber optic communication system throughout the state. FDOT District 7 MCSAW Program: FDOT District 7 is in the Western region of Florida with State Road 93 (SR 93)/ Interstate 75 (I-75) and State Road 93A (SR 93A)/ Interstate 75 (I-75) stretching South to North through the District. State Road 400 (SR 400)/ Interstate 4 (I-4) stretches West to East through the District. FDOT District 7 manages the FDOT District 1 portion of SR 400 (I- 4) as well as its own. The Motor Carrier Size and Weight (MCSAW) Program’s fiber optic communications system is crucial in connecting FDOT Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) Stations and Virtual Weigh-In-Motion (VWIM) Stations. The District 7 MCSAW Program will utilize two (2) dark fibers on SR 93 (I-75) and SR 93A (I-75) for the local connection of VWIM Stations in other FDOT Districts. Four (4) dark fibers on SR 93 (I-75), SR 93A (I-75), and SR 400 (I-4) will be utilized for the Long-Haul communication between the Seffner WIM Stations on SR 400 (I-4) and the WIM Stations in other FDOT Districts. An Intermediate FDOT Microwave Tower will be utilized to regenerate the MCSAW communication network. District 7 MCSAW fibers will be connected to District 5 and District 1 MCSAW fibers to extend the fiber optic communications system throughout the State. |
