Drainage Canal Rehabilitation NCDOT Canal - West Landing Drive to West First Street

The work includes cleaning out a 2,000 lineal foot section of canal located in the Kill Devil Hills First Flight Village neighborhood that extends from the canal crossing of W. Landing Drive beginning at 400 W. Landing Drive and to the crossing under W. First Street. The section of canal is choked up with vegetative debris consisting of thick leaf beds and pine straw litter with snags and downed trees. The Primary Scope of work is to remove the accumulated vegetative debris consisting of thick leaf beds and pine straw litter with snags and downed trees from the canal section. The scope of debris removal from the canal has two sections with distinct removal criteria. The first section is a 400-foot section of the canal beginning at a point approximately 200 feet west of Landing Drive (400 W. Landing Drive) and extending west requiring the removal of the vegetative debris in a cross section 30 feet wide and approximately 1-foot-deep down to the soil bottom (colored in yellow on following site map). The second section is a 1,600-foot section of the canal beginning at a point approximately 600 feet west from W. Landing Drive and extending west 1,600 feet to a point approximately 150 feet west of W. First Street. This section will require the removal of vegetative debris in a cross section 30 feet wide and approximately 3 feet deep down to soil bottom (colored in red on following site map). The bidder to whom this project is awarded shall have ninety (90) calendar days from the effective date of Notice to Proceed to complete all work awarded.
