DME Tilt-Down Pole Replacement - Valley Island International Airport Harlingen, TX

This requirement is for the demo of existing DME and construction of new DME due to life cycle replacement needs. The work consists of, but not limited to, the following: 1. Coordinate with local FAA SSC personnel, airport maintenance personnel, and commercial cable locators to locate and mark underground utilities prior to digging. 2. Carefully remove all control and power cables. 3. Remove existing tilt-down pole and demo foundation. 4. Construct new concrete foundation and erect DME pole per construction drawings. 5. Construct perimeter earth electrode system (EES) around DME. 6. Install LDF4-50a, ½" heliax cable and 3-12 AWG THWN power cables between the shelter and DME antenna and leave at least 5’ slack for FAA termination. 7. All power and control cables shall be tested for continuity and insulation integrity per Section 16G of these specifications after installation in the presence of the COR and SSC technician. 8. Construct crushed rock plot around DME foundation and bollards per Section 2B of these specifications. 9. Restore, regrade, and seed any turf areas disturbed by construction per Section 2B of these specifications. 10. Contractor shall participate in Contractor’s Acceptance Inspection (CAI), and quickly address any punch list items. CAI may be conducted in conjunction with Joint Acceptance Inspection (JAI) with the SSC Office.
