Slope Repairs and Remediation Between Milepost 146.05 and Milepost 159.64

This project provides for slope repairs along the Turnpike roadway shoulders. Work includes drainage improvements, guiderail replacement, single face barrier installation, rock armor installation, and maintenance and protection of traffic. Work items include, but are not limited to: 14,442 CY Excavation, Various Types 5,190 SY Geotextile, Class 4, Type A 2,600 SY Geogrid, Class 1, Type A 12,372 TON Superpave Asphalt Mixture, HMA Courses, Various Mixes 7,797 TON Subbase (No. 2A) 3,401 TON Subbase under Guide Rail 12,996 SY Milling of Bituminous Pavement Surface, 2" Depth 5,549 LF Pavement Base Drain with Slope Drainage, Type II 22,556 LF Remove Existing Guide Rail 20,662.5 LF Type 31-S Guide Rail 6,358 LF Single Face Concrete Barrier, 52" 34,440 LF Temporary Concrete Barrier and Temporary Impact Attenuator 4,291 SY Shoulder Backup 7,360 SY Mulching-Bonded Fiber Matrix 2,299.5 LF Rock Armor 24,699 CY Rock Armor, Modified 7,442 LF Compost Filter Sock, 12" Diameter 2,556 LF Compost Filter Sock, 18" Diameter 22,817 LF Compost Filter Sock, 24" Diameter 26,244 LF 6" Waterborne Pavement Markings Milepost 146.05 is located 0.55 mile east of the Bedford Interchange, Exit 146, and Milepost 159.64 is located 1.85 miles west of the Breezewood Interchange, Exit 161, both in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. The proposal and plans are published electronically in EBS and are available to registered business partners for downloading and printing. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of five (5%) percent of the bid must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) A Prequalification Certification and Applicable Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project. The opening and listing of bids not meeting all the terms and conditions of the bid advertisement or bid procedures does not act as a waiver or modification of any requirements contained in the bid advertisement or bid procedure. The Provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of August 15, 1961, P.L. 987, as amended, together with the rates and regulations promulgated by the Secretary of Labor and Industry applicable thereto, shall apply to this contract.
