Description | construction of the Sideslope Closure and Appurtenances and associated site improvements at the Middlesex County Landfill, in a manner that will not interrupt the existing landfill operations. The work includes but is not limited to the following: 1. Establishing Contractor's staging area, field offices for Contractor and Engineer, posting signage, establishing construction traffic routes. 2. Survey Controls and intermediate verifications. 3. Site clearing, grubbing, stripping and subgrade preparation as required to install the new final cap section. 4. Performance of a preconstruction survey utilizing ground shots on a 50 foot grid pattern referenced to the NJ Plane Coordinate System. 5. Placement and compaction of approximately 60,000 cubic yards of embankment fill, provided by MCUA, intended to serve as levelling course for the construction of the final cap. 6. Performance of a subgrade survey following placement of levelling course fill utilizing ground shots on a 50 foot grid pattern referenced to the NJ Plane Coordinate System for review and evaluation by the Engineer. 7. Installation of soil erosion and sediment control measures, including inlet protection and temporary silt fence, as required. 8. Construction of all contact water conveyance systems, including excavation, piping, placement of bedding stone or embankment fill as specified, backfilling and all fittings, end sections, cleanouts, stone and filter fabric, as required on landfill slopes and with the retrofitted rip-rap channels. 9. Construction of all stormwater conveyance systems, including precast post-tensioned concrete culverts, grassed and rip-rap swales, excavation, placement of bedding stone, rip-rap and embankment fill as specified, backfilling and all fittings, sections, stone, filter fabric, topsoil, seeding and erosion control matting. 10. Placement and compaction of approved embankment fills for the construction of the new final cap section, roadway grade changes, culvert support and backfill and all new liner foundations. 11. Placement of the new final cap system including textured synthetic liner, double-faced geocomposite drain with filter fabric, installing anchor trenches, tying into existing anchor trenches and welding new liner to existing liner at landfill cell perimeters, drainage sand, geotextile separation layer and vegetative cover, seeding and erosion control matting. 12. Improvements to Ramp 1, including grading, compaction, placement of additional DGA roadstone, removal and replacement with additional guiderail, removal of existing culvert, new sideslope rip-rap channel, and all associated work. 13. Compliance with all aspects of MCUA Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plan including providing all Construction Quality Control (CQC) testing of all earthwork and the entire liner system, and the preparation of submittals, lift maps and final as-built survey required for NJDEP acceptance of the installed cap system. 14. Topsoil placement, grading, seeding and erosion control matting. 15. Protection of all work, restoration of all work areas and cleanup, as required. | ||||||
