Description | Project includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: installation of approximately 5,530 linear feet of 10-inch and 12-inch water mains in Deep Creek Drive, Deep Creek Lake, Lake Shore Drive, Leo Friend Drive and the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) right-of-way of Garrett Highway (US 219). The new water main installation will connect a 10-inch water main from the McHenry Water System, located north of Deep Creek Lake, to a 12-inch water main from the Thayerville Water System, located south of Deep Creek Lake. The water main installation commences in Deep Creek Drive at its intersection with Gravelly Run Road, where it connects to a 10-inch water main; it continues south along Deep Creek Drive and in SHA right-of-way towards Deep Creek Lake; it goes across Deep Creek Lake; it continues in a southeasterly direction towards Lake Shore Drive; and then continues into the SHA right-of-way of Garrett Highway before connecting to a 12-inch water main in Leo Friend Road. The water main to be installed across the lake will be a 12” HDPE (DR11) pipe, which will be fused into one continuous pipe section, submerged-and-sunk and held in place on the lake floor with concrete ballasts. The work includes installation of approximately 160 linear feet of 8-inch DIP water main across Garrett Highway to provide for future service connection to Rock Lodge Road; approximately 60 linear feet of this 8-inch DIP will be installed under the highway in a 20-inch steel casing pipe using the bore-and-jack-method. This work also includes installation of approximately 1,200 linear feet of 8-inch and 10-inch pressure sewer across Deep Creek Lake to replace the aging 8-inch pressure installed in the mid 1980’s. Once the new pressure service is in, the old 8-inch pressure sewer will be dewatered and abandoned in place. The work includes all air release and blow-off valves with vaults, water house connections to the property line, full restoration, etc. This work also includes all civil site, sediment and erosion control, stream and ditch crossings, construction stakeout, structural works, testing, paving, seeding and mulching, temporary traffic control, and all other devices and work required per the Contract Documents to provide a complete and operational system. |
