Description | The 42” valve is currently in a partial closed position with the valve stem sheared off (it appears the pin was sheared off). the existing valve stem is currently stored at BIWW. This project is located at 2425 First Street at Big Island Water Works Plant (BIWW). The project involves installing an access structure for an existing 42” water valve located in front of the screen building at the Big Island Water Works Plant (BIWW). This existing 42” gate valve and 6” by-pass valve is located on the 42” intake line for the city’s main water supply. This gate valve controls the intake flows to the Raw Water Screening and Pumping Building. The original butterfly valve was replaced in 2004 with a new gate valve and by-pass valve. The original valve was found to be broken during the Filter and Clearwell Improvements Project that was being completed by Mosser Construction. |
