Description

https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2022/09/21/drb-homes-harnett-county-honeycutt-hills.html Earlier this summer, DRB purchased nearly 200 acres near Buies Creek for a new residential community. The company is also planning a 271-home development and another 111-home project, both of which are in Angier. Angier is red-hot from a residential perspective, as the town ranked No. 1 in a recent Triangle Business Journal analysis of the fastest-growing small towns and cities in the counties surrounding Wake and Durham. Angier's population rose by 7.8 percent between 2020 and 2021, according to U.S. Census estimates. The town is now home to about 5,700 people. DRB Homes ranks as the No. 3-largest builder in the Triangle area, according to TBJ research. The company closed on $257 million worth of home contracts and 858 homes in 2020. _________________________________________________________ A major homebuilder in the Triangle is planning another large community in Harnett County. DRB Homes, formerly known as Dan Ryan Builders, purchased 197.85 acres for over $5.4 million, according to a deed filed June 27. The land sits just northeast of Buies Creek along Sheriff Johnson Road, near where it intersects Mitchell Road. On the land, DRB Homes - based in Rockville, Maryland - is planning to build 131 single-family homes ranging from 1,500 to 3,500 square feet, said Jay Colvin, director of land acquisition for the company. He said each lot will be 30,000 square feet or larger, with many lots ranging upwards of two acres. There will also be 60 acres of open space within the community, which will be called Blake Pond. "It provides large lots for homebuyers, which are getting harder and harder to find," Colvin said. Projected home prices range from in the $300,000s up to the $500,000s, Colvin said. He declined to share the projected overall cost of the community. The company plans to break ground in August, and Colvin said he hopes to have lots available in the spring and homes available in late spring/early summer next year.
