Description

Demolition Services For further information contact the Unsafe Building Enforcement Authority, Shannon Smitley at (260) 589-0081. Demolition Services shall include: Demolition and removal of all structures on the premises (including all basements and/or foundations) at 405 Maple Street, Berne, Indiana 46711, with clean fill deposited upon the premises, compacted and leveled, and grass planted. Note that there is a carport that is on part of this property that will remain intact and will not need demolition. It should be assumed by any bidder that there will need to be abatement of the transite siding on the residential structure. Any bid shall itemize the cost of such abatement within the total bid. Also the awarded bidder must provide the city documentation that the transite siding was disposed of properly, and such documentation will become a part of the permanent records of the City of Berne in the file for 405 Maple Street. The work on the premises must be completed within 60 days of the acceptance of a bid for the project. Present Unsafe Building Violations include: Upstairs windows are broken; Probability of water in basement since electricity is off; Front door is open frequently; Police have had to have children removed from the property (attractive nuisance); Vermin and pests have easy access; City was forced to have the property cleared due to grass in excess of ordinance; City has had pest control remove bees from going through broken windows upstairs and attacking people passing by; Water has been off since September 11, 2014, and due to this, the house is not inhabitable and has been condemned by the Adams County Health Department on May 22, 2019.
