Davis Drive at Salem Church Road Realignment - Town of Apex

The project would realign Davis Drive to improve the horizontal curvature as well as add turn lanes and extend Salem Church Road. The intersection would be shifted west, away from the CSX RR freight line, allowing for vehicle stacking beyond the tracks and allow for installation of a traffic signal and gate arms. Without this project, it is possible that Salem Church Road will eventually be converted to right-in-rightout and/or safety concerns will continue for the various issues- no left turn on Davis Drive backs up traffic southbound, no space for a traffic signal or gate arms to warn of an approaching train, and limited visibility around the curve on Davis Drive. As of September 2, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2023-2027 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2025. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
