Description | The City of Urbandale is requesting your firm to submit a proposal for design services for the Douglas Avenue Plantings from west of Patricia Drive to North Walnut Creek. The City's professional services agreement will be required. This process will not involve interviews with the prospective firms unless deemed necessary by the City to make a final selection. The consultant will provide limited construction inspection services as noted below. Below I have described the work being requested. Also attached is a drawing of the area and the Douglas Avenue Beautification Master Plan for your information. This design will involve the streetscape improvements of Douglas Avenue from west of Patricia Drive to North Walnut Creek. The proposed streetscape improvements are to be based off the adopted 2011 Douglas Avenue Beautification Mater Plan and adapted as necessary to meet the conditions of the corridor after the Douglas Avenue Urbanization project is completed. The proposed Capital Improvements Program has designated $709,800 for the design and construction of the project. The proposed design extends approximately 250 feet west of Patricia Drive to the west side of North Walnut Creek and includes the medians and both sides of the right-of-way. The exact extent of the project is subject to change after review of the plans and cost opinions. The concept plans shall be produced in a manner that allows for elements of the design to be reviewed and selected to stay within the project budget. The proposed design shall use a similar plant palette indicated in the master plan. Signage shall be similar in character to other signs and monuments on Douglas Avenue. It is the City's intent to bid this project in February 2022 and have it completed by Fall 2022. Related project items may include minor grading, plantings, landscaping, signage, irrigation, and electrical. Any work indicated in the Master Plan that entails replacement of pavement for aesthetic purposes is beyond the scope of this project.
