Description

Provide preventative and/or corrective maintenance on emergency generators on the CCSU campus. 1) Engine/Oil System – change engine lubrication, oil filter, service oil bath air cleaner on cartridge type, lubricate governor linkage, change belts, check for oil leaks 2) Cooling System – test anti-freeze solution, check coolant levels, water hose pliability and engine block heaters; check stand pipes, flexible water lines, and solenoid valves on units cooled by city water; check lower operation on all units and engine fins on air cooled units 3) Exhaust System – check flexible exhaust, drain condensation trap where applicable, and inspect system for leaks 4) Fuel System- check flexible fuel connections, fuel sediment bowl, fuel pump primer, injection pump lines, nozzle supply and return lines, day tanks float level, fuel transfer pumps, nozzle fittings, fuel solenoid, change fuel filters 5) Battery – clean cable terminals, clean and seal battery part, check battery fluid levels, check battery voltage 6) Starting System – check start solenoid terminals, check starter, and check charge rate 7) Electrical – check control panel relays, solid-state circuits where applicable, exciter where applicable, rotating diodes, rectifiers and A/C & D/C brushes, clean collector ring and commutators 8) Operating Check – run generator and conduct safety test overspeed, low oil pressure, high water temperature, high air temperature, check A/C voltage, check frequency, record hour meter reading 9) Final Check – field breaker in on position, main line circuit breaker, start and stop unit at plant, start and stop unit at transfer switch, simulate power failure test under approval and in presence of CCSU agency representative, unit left in remote position, general inspection of entire unit.
