Description

Design, construction and closeout of all phases of the campus decentralization project at the Woodward Resource Center. Evaluate the centralized campus utility distribution and tunnel system at the Woodward Resource Center. The Woodward Resource Center is served by a centralized steam plant and utility distribution system that primarily consists of tunnels that were constructed in the mid-1960s. The original boilers are still in operation. Steam is also used by absorption chillers to provide a portion of the air conditioning for the campus. The study reviewed the existing conditions and recommended a full decentralization of the utilities, in lieu of repair/replacement of existing equipment and tunnels or a hybrid approach.
