Description | Purpose of securing a Master Services Agreement for the removal and replacement of filter media for Filters 1 and 2 at Water Treatment Plant #1. Media Removal: Remove existing media and supporting material from two (2) double bay filters, each cell measures 13.5’ X 6’ for a total filter area of approx. 351 sq. ft. 2 Filters total. Each filter is made up of 2 bays. Each bay measures 13.5’X6.5’ Vendor will remove media and place in City Supplied roll-off Dumpster Power wash filter walls and upper under-drain system with a minimum of 3,500 psi. Clean orifice holes in each Leopold clay tile under-drain block. Inspect under-drain blocks and grout joints. Media Installation: All filter media must be both NSF and AWWA certified.) All certifications of filter media shall come from independent laboratories and be presented to the owner for verification prior to installation. Media will be supplied, off loaded and handled by the vendor only. Install (3”) of ¾” X ½”, (2”) of ½” X ¼”, (2”) of ¼” X 1/8”, (2”) of 1/8” X #16 filter gravel. Owner to backwash newly installed material until clean. Owner to drain filter to approximately 18” above the newly installed supporting bed. Install 10” of .45-.55 mm uc 1.50 or less filter sand. Owner to backwash until clean. Owner to drain filter to below the sand, to be followed by vendor supplied skimming operation, all skimming to be disposed of in wash troughs and washed to waste. Finished sand depth 9.5“. Owner to introduce water slowly from under-drain to approximately 18” above the skimmed sand. Install 20.5” .95-1.05 uc 1.50 or less filter anthracite. Owner to backwash until clean. Owner to drain filter to below the anthracite, to be followed by vendor supplied skimming operation, all skimming to be disposed of in wash troughs and washed to waste. Finished sand depth 9.5 “. Finished anthracite level to be 20” |
