Description | The purpose of this solicitation is to acquire all services and supplies complying with the enclosed specifications and conditions for the installation of artificial turf on the avenue of oaks located near the Legare Waring House at SC Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism's Charles Towne Landing Historical Site. Background Charles Towne Landing State Historic site preserves the location where English settlers landed in 1670 and established the birthplace of South Carolina. The park is open daily and has an average annual visitation of 150,000 people. A centerpiece of Charles Towne Landing is the Legare Waring House and its avenue of oaks. The Legare Waring House was originally built around 1840 as an overseer's house for Old Towne Plantation. During the 1930s Ferdinand Legare Waring acquired the house and property. In the mid-twentieth century, she remodeled the house in the Colonial Revival style and began planting the avenue of oaks. This picturesque venue hosts on average 12,000 guests at 80 weddings per year and is also visited daily by guests visiting the park. 2. Timeline a. Work can begin as soon as December 19, 2022 and MUST be completed not later than January 31st, 2023 b. Work on Park must be scheduled with the SC PRT contact David Baker in order to coordinate entry. c. Contractor will be allowed to operate during the hours of M-F 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM 3. Turf Requirements a. 7812 sq ft of artificial turf 42'x 186' b. Synthetic Turf c. Yarn type d. Primary: Nylon monofilament yarn e. Secondary: textured Nylon monofilament yarn f. Color should match St. Augustine turf to blend into the existing terrain. The intent is to have a natural looking color. (vendor should provide the sample they intent to use as color swatch) g. Blade height: 1-3/4" h. Pile Weight: 50oz. /sq. yd. i. Construction: Dual yarn, same row j. Seaming: Micromechanical bonding k. Three-layer premium backing including BioCel polyurethane and geotex non-woven fabric (or equivalent) l. All synthetic turf fasteners must be stainless steel m. EPS 100% plastic perimeter boards along turf edging 4. Contractors Requirements a. Provide Warranty b. One-year warranty on Labor c. 15 Year product warranty d. Prep Turf installation site with a minimum of 3" gravel base and compact e. Installation of all turf f. Infill turf with sand g. Insure that are seems are free of tripping harzards and none visable 5. Turf Maintenance a. Turf Maintenance will be completed by SC PRT staff outside of any warranty related work. 6. SC PRT Responsibilities a. Removal and disposal of existing grass down to 4 inches and leveled b. Removal and disposal of existing turf down to 4 inches and leveled c.
