Description | The Deschutes National Forest and the Oregon Department of Forestry are seeking a cultural resource management contractor to complete approximately 1,300 acres of survey and site documentation in the Garrison Vegetation Management Planning Area. The GVPMA comprises nearly 30,000 acres of National Forest System lands on the Sisters Ranger District of the Deschutes National Forest (DNF). The survey areas are all within 10 miles of Sisters, OR. Elevation in the project area varies from approximately 3,000 to 3,500 feet above sea level. Several roads of varying conditions (native surface, gravel, and paved) access and bisect the planning area providing extensive access to proposed survey areas. Terrain and vegetation throughout the proposed survey units vary. Much of the survey areas consist of dry upland environments consisting of open flats dominated by juniper and ponderosa pine, as well as gently sloped terrain with mixed conifer vegetation types and ephemeral drainages. |
