Description | Sealed bids will be received for furnishing all materials, labor, tools, equipment, and appurtenances necessary for the construction of new base, paving, valley gutter and drainage improvements along Hawk Lane, Bobwhite Lane and Harrell Road in Cook County, Georgia. The Bid Bond shall be forfeited to Cook County as liquidated damages if the Bidder fails to execute the Contract and provide Performance and Payment Bonds within (10) days after being notified that he has been awarded the Contract. Cook County is committed to Affirmatively Further Fair Housing. This project is funded in part by a Community Development Block Grant. The work to be performed under this contract is under a program providing direct Federal financial assistance from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and is subject to the requirements of Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 as amended, 12 U.S.C. 1701 U. Section 3 requires that to the greatest extent feasible, opportunities for employment and training be given to the low income residents of the project area, and contracts for work in connection with the project to be awarded to business concerns which are located in or owned in substantial part by persons residing in the area of the project. Section 3 Residents and Business Concerns are encouraged to apply. The Cook County Board of Commissioners is committed to providing all persons with equal access to its services, programs, activities, education, and employment regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, disability or age. Furnish materials, labor, tools, equipment and appurtenances necessary for the construction of new base, paving, valley gutter and drainage improvements for approximately 1,365 linear feet along Siska Lane and approximately 1,038 linear feet along Hawk Lane and Bobwhite Lane in Target Area 1. Target Area 2 consists of approximately 1,603 linear feet along Harrell Road in Cook County, Georgia. The project will consist of re-grading the existing dirt roads as necessary to construct a 24 ft wide, two lane paved road with valley gutter within a 50 ft County Right of Way. Drainage improvements will consist of the installation of miscellaneous runs of 15-inch and 18-inch reinforced concrete pipe and associated storm drain structures as required to facilitate proper drainage for the project. Necessary demolition, clearing and erosion control and maintenance, as well as permanent grassing will be required for the project as well. All work on this project must be completed within 180 consecutive days from date of notice to proceed. No bid will be considered unless sealed and filed with the Cook County Board of Commissioners prior to the time set forth above and accompanied by a Bid Bond, payable to Cook County, for five percent (5%) of the bid; to be forfeited as liquidated damages in the event that the bid be accepted and bidder fails to enter promptly into a written contract and furnish the required Payment Bond, Performance Bond, Insurance Certificates and other required contract documents. Bids arriving after the designated time will be returned unopened. No bids shall be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after the opening of bids. Cook County reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to overlook and/or disregard informalities or irregularities in the proposals. |
