Description | 1. Contractor must remove hazards completely from one end of the raised sidewalk joint to the other, leaving a zero point of differential between slabs. 2. Contractor must repair sidewalk hazards without damage or visible markings to adjacent slab or curb. 3. The Contractor shall take precautions during construction operations not to disfigure, scar, or impair the health of any tree on public or private property. The Contractor must not cause damage to landscaping, retaining walls, curbs, sprinkler heads, etc. 4. The footprint of the equipment must be able to accommodate a 3-4 foot wide sidewalk without imprinting tire tracks on sod or damage to landscaping. 5. All trip hazards marked for saw cutting must be removed in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and the resulting finish shall be ADA compliant. Each offset must be tapered at a 1:8 slope and must have smooth uniform appearance and texture. 6. All saw cutting shall be done with diamond-tipped blades and saws capable of cutting at any angle and able to remove the concrete completely to all edges of the walk. 7. The contractor will provide the differential measurements and length of each trip hazard repaired with a detailed description of the location and when available GIS coordinates of each trip hazard. SAW CUTTING CRITERIA 1. Sidewalk squares with an offset between 0.5” inch and 1.5” shall be cut. 2. Cross-cuts shall be performed on any adjacent sidewalk that contains deficiencies outside the listed criteria. 3. Sidewalk squares that contain cracks less than ½ inch wide and have an offset within the above criteria. 4. If saw cutting is needed at curb ramps either the curb or sidewalk may be cut provided that after the cutting, the flow line of the curb is not changed in anyway. The lowest part of the cut shall be above the flow line of the curb and there must be positive drainage across the curb to the flow line. |
