Craig Cunningham of St. Johns Commercial Properties represented the buyer and seller in a deal that saw a total of about 18.5 acres at 2080 S.R. 16 and 2000 S.R. 16 sell for $7.75 million. Arlington Properties acquired the property from M&B Brothers Properties LLC and JP Daniels LLC, respectively. It will build a 240-unit community with 13 two- and three-story buildings. The county approved the project in 2022. The site was the former location of roadside attractions dubbed the Oldest Jail and Fort Bengali zoo. Arlington has done similar projects in Jacksonville, and the St. Johns County proposal was compared to Tapestry Westland Village during a presentation to the County Commission. Also during the presentation, the development was referred to as luxury apartments. Construction on the project is expected to begin in the coming weeks. __________________________________________ The project scope includes the new construction of 13 two and three story buildings on 18.54 acres at 2000 and 2080 State Road 16. Scope details have not been released. As of September 5, 2023 the project is in planning stage. The developer has acquired the property. Saint Johns County has given planning approval.
