Nelson Lake Marsh Revitalization

The project is located approximately 2,385 feet upstream (northeast) the confluence with Lake Run on parcel 11-25-300-13. All surrounding parcels within 250’ are owned by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. Specifically, it is located in the NE Quarter of Section 25, Township 39N, Range 7E at Latitude 41.8316639°N and Longitude 88.3854861°W. Furnish all materials and perform all labor necessary to install a water management stop log control structure approximately 29' upstream from the existing pedestrian bridge over the Lake Run Nelson Lake Branch of Lake Run. The overall purpose of the proposed project is to add a structure in Lake Run Nelson Lake Branch in order to manage the water surface elevation upstream at Nelson Lake. The project consists of constructing a control structure approximately 29’ upstream from the existing pedestrian bridge over the Lake Run Nelson Lake Branch of Lake Run. The structure will consist of 2 – 3’ H x 4’ W pre-cast box culverts placed in stream with 1.25’ of stone fill and stainless steel stop log guides mounted on each upstream culvert face. There will be an option of putting in up to 4 – 6” aluminum stop logs on either upstream culvert end, for a total of 8 possible 6” stoplogs. The work will include dewatering, earth excavation and disposal, riprap placement, seeding/plantings, erosion control measures, and restoration of disturbed areas.
