Description | To construct, furnish and equip a 4,000 sq. ft. senior citizen center, Ramah Chapter, Cibola County. The project will be implemented in phases with the Navajo Nation Capital Projects Management Department as the lead agency and the Navajo Nation as the fiscal agent. Phase I of the project will include acquiring the land, environmental assessment and archaeological studies. Phase 2 will be to develop a complete set of Construction Documents: Design, Plan, and specification to build the 4,000 sq. ft. new building. The type of building and construction will be determined during the design phase of the project. All civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical drawings will be coordinated thru a hired Architect to meet all local, state and federal codes. Funds will be requested from NM ALTSD for design plans. Phase 3 will consist of utilizing the state funds to construct the new building to a full turn-key facility. The funding for this phase will be through NM ALTSD and other departments. The phase 4 is to furnish the center with updated equipment necessary to operate a senior citizen center and will including kitchen and meals equipment such as a new refrigerator, oven, freezer, microwave oven, rinsing equipment, ice machine, and a food preparation table. Funds from the state will also provide a place for seniors to socialize furnishings will include new furniture, TV and entertainment centers and new tables and chairs. The new center will also have a washer and dryer and new cabinets for the staff. Phase 5 will be the construction of parking lot. The chapter will purchase the equipment and furnishing by following Navajo Nation and State of New Mexico procurement laws. The purchase will be bid out to vendors and then a vendor will be selected. The Ramah Navajo Chapter will own the senior citizen center, Navajo Nation Division of Aging and Long Term Care Support will operate the center through an MOU. The project is included in the city's 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
