Description

VAN ALLEN HALL - RENOVATE THE WESTERN SEVENTH FLOOR The certified Iowa TSB participation goal for this project is 10 percent (10%) of the Base Bid Project consists of major renovation of the western half of the seventh floor in Van Allen Hall. Work includes selective demolition of walls, finishes, mechanical and electrical systems. New work includes new walls, ceilings, doors, finishes, casework, mechanical, electrical, fire suppression, fire alarm, telecommunications and access control systems. Scope also includes replacement of exterior windows for the project area and lightning protection for the entire building The scope of this project includes the renovation of the western half of Level 7 of existing Van Allen Hall to create shared laboratory spaces for the Physics and Astronomy Department. Work will include replacement of exterior windows, in addition to demolition and installation of interior partitions, ceilings, doors, and finish flooring. Mechanical systems will be upgraded, including a dedicated AHU to support the labs and cleanroom spaces. Electrical power, telecom, lighting, door access control, and fire alarm systems will be updated to serve new spaces. This project will install a new lightning protection system with additional grounding. Van Allen Hall is not fully sprinklered. This project will include the installation of a pre-action sprinkler system for the western half of Level 7 only. Project scope includes conversion of existing Mens Restroom 721 on the west half of Level 7 to a single-user, ADA accessible restroom. Currently, there are no ADA accessible restrooms on Level 7. The new single-user restroom will also improve the ratio of mens and womens restrooms on this floor
