Description | PCL Construction, in partnership with California Polytechnic State University, are kicking off the new Football Operations Center collaborative design build project. This newly formed project team will incorporate integrated project delivery (IPD) principles with lean design and construction practices, and contractually executed with a design build form of agreement. All questions (technical, contractual, or otherwise) regarding this RFQ must be submitted electronically California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly, University) is a 4-year accredited university founded in 1901. Originally a vocational and technical school, Cal Poly SLO has evolved into a renowned educational institution, known the world over as the school of "learn by doing." Intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of the educational program of the University, and it is committed to providing Cal Poly student-athletes with the opportunity to strive for Athletic and Academic Excellence. The delivery method for this Project is Collaborative Design-Build. This is a two-phased project delivery: Phase 1: Design Services to define the Project; and Phase 2 Design-Build Architectural Services to complete the design and construct the Project as part of the integrated project team. There will be separate agreements for each phase. The Architect will be selected on qualifications and proposed fees (a design competition is not utilized). During Phase 1 the Architect will: complete the programming; develop the schematic design; deliver a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) document set; Upon approval for phase 2, continue Design Development and confirm other criteria as appropriate. Upon receipt of both the GMP approval of the schematic design and the University's authorization to proceed, Architect shall: continue with the design development; publish a set of the 50% Preliminary Design (PD) Development Documents and establish and submit a Complete GMP package to the university. The Cal Poly Football Operations Center will be an approximately 30,000 SF facility located at the Southern end zone of the existing Alex G. Spanos Stadium Complex. Cal Poly desires to design and construct a football team facility in order to create a home for the Cal Poly football program. The programmatic vision is for this building to serve the daily needs of the team during training time and the regular season, as well as to serve as a recruitment feature to bring top quality student athletes to campus. Program proposes team locker room, coach's locker room with support spaces, weight room, training rooms and medical support spaces, lounge space including nutrition area, lobby and public reception, access to the south end of the stadium and parking. *Information regarding subcontractor bidding has not been disclosed to the content management team at this time. Interested subcontractors should contact the general contractor directly for more information. |
