Collierville-Arlington Bridge Repair

A. Existing Conditions: The existing bridge has seven spans and is approximately 32’ wide x 220’ long, with W24 steel beams spanning approximately 31.1’ from abutment to intermediate pile bents and 31.1’ between intermediate pile bents. The steel beams are 6’-6” on center with W12 bracing beams (diaphragms) at supports and at mid-span. The bridge was built in 1959. There is evidence that multiple W24 beams have been repaired and a few W12 diaphragms were replaced at some point in the past. These repairs appear to be in good condition. The following W24 beams should be repaired: Span No. 2: Beam C Span No. 3: Beam A Span No. 4: Beam C Span No. 6: Beam C The following W12 diaphragms should be replaced: Span No. 3: 2 locations Structural steel should be cleaned and repainted. Some of steel bearing plates and anchor bolts may require repairs after they are cleaned and inspected. Bridge deck wearing surface and joints should be repaired to impede water penetration below the deck. Bridge drains should be cleaned and repaired. LOSB participation goal: 25%
